Tamara Davidson | Laanas

I am a proud member of the Haida Nation and a proud British Columbian. I’m running for the North Coast Haida-Gwaii  as your BC NDP candidate because I’m committed to addressing critical north coast issues: affordability, healthcare access, economic development, and infrastructure improvements. Building on the strong foundations laid by my predecessors Gary Coons and Jennifer Rice, I want to be part of the David Eby BC NDP Team, working to improve the quality of life for all residents.

I have 28 years as a federal public servant, working in land management, strategic planning, conservation, and tourism. I’ve been in public service leadership positions, entrusted to manage multi-million dollar budgets and large teams. I am a proud member of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). And I’ve worked with more than 150 First Nations communities across BC, from Ktunaxa to Bella Bella,  building strong relationships and fostering collaborative initiatives. 

I’ve served as Visitor Experience Manager for Parks Canada at Gwaii Hanaas, which allowed me to live in my homeland. I’ve had the honour of being a negotiator on behalf of the Haida Nation, which has culminated in the signing of the Haida Title Recognition Act. And I’m currently an elected representative to the Council of the Haida Nation, connecting Haida people living in urban areas with our homeland. 

As a single mother, I balanced raising my daughter with a demanding career. I will bring this same resilience and dedication to representing the people of North Coast-Haida Gwaii. Let’s work together to address the unique challenges of our region, to achieve a more equitable and prosperous North Coast-Haida Gwaii for all of us.
